Two people were rescued unharmed after their boat sank off Sliema on Sunday morning, the Armed Forces of Malta confirmed. The sinking was reported at around 9am, and both occupants ended up in the water before an AFM rescue vessel was dispatched to the scene. The AFM crew recovered both individuals and brought them aboard.
A medical team from Mater Dei Hospital attended to the pair at the scene, examining them for any injuries sustained during the incident. Neither appeared to have suffered any harm. The Civil Protection Department also assisted in the response alongside the AFM.
The two rescued individuals were assessed and cleared by the medical team present. No details about their identities have been released. The type or registration of the vessel that sank has also not been disclosed.
The Armed Forces of Malta had not established the cause of the sinking by the time they confirmed the incident.
