Teddy Teuma signs two-year deal with Sliema Wanderers

Malta international midfielder Teddy Teuma has signed a two-year contract with Sliema Wanderers, ending weeks of speculation over what is regarded as one of the biggest transfers in Maltese football history. He is 32. The 32-year-old was presented wearing the Wanderers shirt at the Betsson offices in Ta' Xbiex, where Betsson was confirmed as official club sponsors.

Teuma spent more than six years at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium, playing a central role in transforming the club into title challengers and regular participants in European competition. His performances established him as one of the most recognisable Maltese players ever to compete at that level. He then moved to Stade de Reims in France's Ligue 1, earning experience in one of Europe's top five leagues.

His most recent season before joining Sliema also included a stint at Standard Liège. Sliema Wanderers' new president spoke at a press conference held during the presentation at the Betsson offices. Teuma described the move as a special moment after years competing at the highest levels of European football, fulfilling an ambition he had previously expressed to play in the Maltese Premier League.
