Borg calls for conditions to keep young people in Gozo

Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg visited three Gozitan businesses on 7 August 2026. He was accompanied by Nationalist MPs Beppe Galea and Norma Camilleri. The three stops were Casa Giuseppe in Victoria, an elderly care residence; Customize Nation in Xewkija, which designs and manufactures custom products for customers across Malta and Gozo; and Magro Brothers, a food producer.

At Casa Giuseppe, Borg said quality care built around dignity matters not just for older people but for their families and that investing in such care allows people to remain within their communities as they age. At Customize Nation, Borg said small enterprises need reliable infrastructure and access to skilled workers to keep investing in Gozo.

At Magro Brothers, Borg met workers and farmers who grow tomatoes used in production. He said the business shows how a Gozitan manufacturer can stay rooted in local agriculture while reaching international markets and argued that Malta should support companies maintaining links with local farmers and livestock breeders. "As a Gozitan, I do not want Gozo to be a place young people have to leave in order to succeed," Borg said.

"We want it to be a place where they can build a career, a business and a family." "Gozitans are not asking for special treatment, but for the right conditions to allow their talent, hard work and investment to succeed," he added, arguing that Gozo should be seen as a place where people can build careers and businesses, not merely as a tourist destination.
