Two 73-year-olds struck by motorcycle on Sliema's strand road

Two pedestrians aged 73 were struck by a motorcycle on Triq ix-Xatt (the Strand) in Sliema at around 10.30pm on 18 September 2025. Police were informed of the incident and arrived at the scene immediately. A medical team was called to assist and an ambulance transported both victims to Mater Dei Hospital.

The motorcycle, a Kymco Agility 16+ 125, was ridden by a 26-year-old French man from St Paul's Bay. The two victims – a Moroccan man and a French woman, both aged 73 – were struck during what police described as a traffic collision on the seafront road. At Mater Dei Hospital, the French woman was certified as having suffered serious injuries and is in a life-threatening condition.

The Moroccan man was certified as having sustained grievous injuries, the term Maltese police and courts use for serious bodily harm. Police investigations into the circumstances of the collision are continuing.
