Birkirkara beat Żabbar St Patrick 2–0 in the VBET Malta Premier, ending a three-match run without a win that had yielded just one point. The Stripes had lost to Mosta and Sliema Wanderers and drawn with Hibernians in that spell. Franklin Sasere broke the deadlock from the penalty spot before half-time.

The referee used the Football Video Support system, Malta's equivalent of VAR, to review a challenge by Strahinja Jovancic on Zach Muscat inside the area. Sasere converted to give Birkirkara the lead at the interval. Birkirkara had chances in the first half.

Zach Muscat headed narrowly wide from a Pablo Gabriel corner around the 19th minute. For Żabbar, Shelom Magri fired wide from the edge of the area, Vinicius Mendonca went close after a short clearance before his effort drifted over and Joao Mafra sent a shot just wide in the 17th minute. Frazan's header from a corner was saved by Żabbar goalkeeper Mohorovic before the break.

The second half was interrupted early by a floodlight failure that halted play for around ten minutes. After the restart, Żabbar came closest to reducing the deficit in the 62nd minute when Amarildo struck the crossbar from the edge of the area after controlling a pass from Aleksandar Djordjevic. Pablo Gabriel sealed the result in the second minute of stoppage time.

Sasere headed the ball into the path of substitute Louis Pahama, who rounded two defenders before squaring for Gabriel to finish past Mohorovic. For Żabbar St Patrick, the loss was their third in six matches and left them four games without a win.
