More than 12,600 children have enrolled in SkolaSajf 2026, the government's summer programme running across 54 centres in Malta and Gozo. The total enrolment of 12,634 is distributed among 45 facilities in Malta, five on Gozo and four specialist resource centres. The programme employs 2,761 educators and support staff and has received a government investment of €7.4 million.
Managed by the Foundation for Educational Services (FES), the eight-week initiative runs under the theme "Reach for the Stars" and focuses on non-formal activities aimed at promoting creativity, curiosity, confidence and teamwork. FES CEO Michael Bondin said the strong enrolment reflects families' continued trust in the programme, which is designed to inspire students to pursue their ambitions through various activities and collaborations.
Education and Sport Minister Byron Camilleri visited the San Ġwakkin centre in Marsaskala, describing SkolaSajf as a valuable space for children to explore their potential while providing essential support for working families during the school break. The programme runs Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm, with selected centres offering extended hours from 7am to 5:30pm for working parents.
It continues until 11 September 2026, with a recess from 10 to 14 August.
