San Ġiljan overturn five goals to beat Sliema

San Ġiljan came from three goals down to beat Sliema 11–10 in a President's Cup water polo match, scoring the winner in the closing moments. Sliema dominated the opening session, racing out to a 5–2 lead. That three-goal advantage left San Ġiljan with a significant deficit to recover and, at that stage, Sliema held the clearer footing in the contest.

San Ġiljan won the second session 3–2, pulling the running score back to 7–5 in Sliema's favour. The gap had narrowed to two goals, but Sliema responded in the third session, taking that period 2–1 and pushing their lead back out to three. Heading into the fourth session, the score stood 9–6 to Sliema.

San Ġiljan outscored Sliema 5–1 in the final session. That decisive period erased the deficit entirely and sealed the win, with the winning goal arriving in the final moments of the match. The overall result – 11–10 to San Ġiljan – completed a comeback from a position of clear disadvantage across each of the first three sessions.
