Prime Minister Robert Abela has handed over a €50,000 donation to The Malta Trust Foundation, drawn from the government's Social Causes Fund. Presenting the cheque at a fundraising event organised by the foundation, Abela described the contribution as made "in the name of the Maltese and Gozitan population" — positioning it as a public gesture rather than a partisan one.

Abela stayed on after the formal presentation to meet children at the event and took a turn answering phones as members of the public called in their own donations. The Malta Trust Foundation supports vulnerable children, young people, and adults dealing with poverty, social exclusion, and disability through a range of programmes and initiatives. "The Malta Trust Foundation continues to change lives every day," Abela said at the event.

It has not been confirmed whether the €50,000 allocation is a one-off contribution or part of a recurring commitment from the Social Causes Fund, and no breakdown was provided on which specific programmes the money will support.
