Malta Public Transport, operating under the Tallinja brand, is rolling out its summer timetable in two phases, with the largest service gains concentrated on routes serving the northern coastline. The first phase takes effect on Saturday 13 June 2026. From that date, Route 212 — running between Sliema and Buġibba — will operate every 20 minutes on weekday daytime.

Routes 221 and 222 also benefit from 13 June: Route 222 links Sliema to Ċirkewwa, and Route 221 covers Buġibba to Ċirkewwa, with both receiving frequency improvements on that date. The second phase, from 5 July 2026, goes further. Route 212 steps up again to every 15 minutes.

Routes 223 and 225, which carry passengers to Għajn Tuffieħa from Buġibba and Sliema respectively, move from once an hour to every 20 minutes, tripling their frequency for summer. Route 53, between Valletta and Rabat, will run every 30 minutes on weekdays from the same date, doubling its previous weekday service. Not every route benefits.

Routes 61, 72, 73, and 43 will run at reduced frequencies during summer. Routes X1A, 150, and 207 will be suspended entirely from 5 July 2026, following the end of the school year. Passengers can check departure times on the Tallinja App or the Malta Public Transport website.
