Omar Rababah, a Labour Party candidate in Malta, faces a cluster of public allegations during the current election campaign.
He has been accused of soliciting donations intended for Palestine into personal bank accounts and of misrepresenting himself to the Syrian community in Malta. Other claims in circulation label him an "Assadist" and tie that label to a 2024 visit to Damascus and a published photograph.
Further claims suggest the Labour government advanced him through the public-service ranks and allowed him to take a full-time university course while remaining in full-time government employment. Some commentary has also framed limited support for Rababah within parts of the Syrian community as politically significant.
The allegations concern a named candidate in an active election period.
