Sliema residents want daily police for party boat returns

Sliema residents have welcomed police monitoring of party boat arrivals at the ferries and are pressing for it to become standard practice each summer. In a Facebook post shared by Lovin Malta, a residents' group said: "This has to be a daily affair each time these boat parties enter."

The group linked two demands: passengers should stay silent as boats enter port so captains can hear instructions and waterfront noise falls, and people should "behave like normal human beings" once ashore. The framing is practical rather than a call to ban party boats.

At Sliema ferries, leisure vessels operate beside residential streets, and noise during evening or late-night returns is the main grievance. Residents say officers on the waterfront as boats arrive can enforce quieter entry and signal accountability after disembarkation – when groups move through the surrounding streets.
