The Point opened in 2010 on the Tigné peninsula, on the site of former British barracks and fortifications. It has four floors of shops, about 15,000 square metres of retail space, covering fashion, beauty, sports, books, household goods and electronics, along with cafés and places to eat. The mall says it is two minutes from the waterfront.

The shopping streets: the Strand, Tower Road and Bisazza Street

Street shopping in Sliema is centred on the area known as the Ferries: the Strand (ix-Xatt), which runs along the harbour past the ferry landing, Tower Road and Bisazza Street.

Shops on the streets set their own hours, which are not the same as the mall's. Check a shop's own listing before making a special trip, especially on Sundays and public holidays.

Getting there

From Valletta: the harbour ferry lands at Sliema Ferries, in the middle of the shopping area and a short walk from The Point. Times and fares are on the Sliema ferry page.

By bus: many routes stop at the Ferries stops on the Strand. From the airport, Airport Direct TD3 stops at Ferries 3; see Malta Airport to Sliema. Every route through Sliema is on the buses and ferry page.

By car: parking in Sliema is limited, and The Point has its own paid car park (rates above). See driving and parking in Sliema.
