Sliema Win Back-to-Back Beach Soccer Championship Title

Sliema won back-to-back Men's National Beach Soccer Championships, defeating La Playa de Arena 3-1 after extra time at Il-Bajja s-Sabiħa in Birżebbuġa. Back-to-back titles. The match was closely contested throughout, with both sides creating several scoring chances.

Mantas Makutunovicius gave Sliema the lead, turning well before firing a first-time shot past La Playa de Arena goalkeeper Jonathan Grech. Karl Caruana then equalised for La Playa de Arena from a free kick, and the match stood at 1-1 after 36 minutes of regular time. Extra time proved decisive for Sliema.

Makutunovicius struck again to put Sliema 2-1 ahead, and a third goal completed the 3-1 scoreline and confirmed the championship. Reaching the final had required Sliema to come through a demanding semi-final the previous day at the same venue in Birżebbuġa. They defeated Ispartans 8-5 in a match described as highly competitive and uncertain until the end.

Malta Beach Soccer Association president Mauro Camilleri Darmanin presented the trophy at the end of the match. Sliema captain Matthew Agius received it.
